the first couple of weeks we worried, worried about this little one. she would wake up in the morning or after naps and just shake. she was not sure where she was and it would take her a little to wake up and recognize us and feel comfortable again. and we are not too sure but think she was not feed too much. now she is eating any kind of snack she can get her hands on and she is getting used to and eating table foods much better. she loves her fruits and sweets! her skin looks much better we think because she is eating really food and drinking much more. when she first came her checks were open sores and she had spots and scars all over her little body. they said she need all kinds of special things but simply bathing her and lotioning her and she has healed. She is just so pretty.

Her eyes in pictures look really, really black but they are very carmel colored.

grandma sent a doll in the mail! She was so excited and loves, loves on her! thank you...so thoughtful.

this has been an adjustment for sure but we felt strongly to take Niomi and have all made changes. it has been wonderful to get to know her and her family as well as love and care for an innocent baby who needs a home. this crazy system we are involved with has blessed our lives in many ways. And Niomi is a sweet, sweet baby girl.

baby happenings...

Here are pictures of the fun things we are doing with the babies! the zoo, the mall playground, the carousel at the other mall. We have found ourselves after a stressful day wanting to get out of the house. Little escapes! I finally got Niomi's braids out, 2 weeks later and seriously hours...so we washed it and froed it out and she is just a beautiful little baby!

Now that we are out of survival mode we are able to get out a little more and enjoy life again. We took them to the zoo, the museum and to the mall play ground. It is funny how quickly life changes and we (chris and i) are just loving it. This season in our life we mentioned to a friend is our "baby" season maybe we should have said toddler season. But I love it actually! all the music, the crazy cartoons that they love and beg to watch, the reading of the same book 50 times in one day, how we can go through an entire box of fruit snacks ("candy") in a week! and even the tantrums and fits over the littlest things. We are just loving it! I cannot describe it as anything different. Except that this season will be gone so quickly and I am just enjoying all the crazy, exhausting and silly days and hours. I think part of it is we have planned, hoped and prayed for a family for years and now we have a busy one and I am enjoying how they learn and grow and explore their worlds. Random thoughts but just loving life!
I mean how cute are these 3...we are really blessed.

many faces

I had to post these because it makes me laugh so hard! Baby K playing with the iphone after our Sunday nap. He was just laughing out loud for the longest time at himself and then had to go through and look at all the pictures again. He cracks me up! (these are only a handful of the pictures he took)

Yesterday I went in to check on him because he would not go to sleep and as soon as I walked in the door he held out his hand and said "mommy boo, boo!" so I went to kiss it better because he usually does that when he hurts something but this time it was covered in throw up! Charming....I love how his little brain works.

The other night Chris was getting him in his PJ's which is not an easy task. He is so busy! And he wanted to go play with Adam so Chris had a good grip and was hurriedly trying to get his legs in the footie's. And Baby K yelled out exasperated! "Stuck!" Yep you are stuck in daddy's arms. Cute!

He loves all kinds of trucks right now and calls his chuck character truck.."tow, tow" with such an endearing little voice it kills me! But he knows all the different names; digger, dumb, garbage, tow, he calls him dozer! He will label them as we drive or in books etc. He spots them before I do!

a very fun visit!!

On Tuesday we had a great visit from some of our favorite people! And we got to meet there new baby with the best name-Woodson. They just stayed the night and had to drive back to work early the next morning but it was so great to see them. They are the kind of friends you can not see for months but when you visit or talk again it is like they live right next door. Plus baby K has always had an unusual connection with Adam. This was the only picture (they) actually took of the trip. Ah how did we miss all 3 baby's together but it is a cute one! You can see how excited Bobo is to see Adam again. They were so gracious to just join in the craziness that was our house that night and sleep in our messy extra room with all the "stuff" we still needed to sort from the new baby. Anyway we miss you guys already! Hopefully we will see you soon in Tennessee!

the first few days

The first morning I left Chris with both of them to get my hair done! It is really hard to get in and I had already rescheduled once so it would have been weeks before I could get in again. Chris so kindly stayed alone, out numbered with the 2 of them. And they all survived! We made it through a very busy Sunday with subs in Primary for the 5th Sunday lesson and even had a good nap with a visit for the first time from our home teacher. Funny! Chris was able to stay home Monday again with both alone because I had a doctors appointment. Here are a few pictures of the 2 from the first few days.

This looks like he has pinned her down or something but they were playing "nite nite" and he was rubbing her back so she could go to sleep. What a nice big boy!

It is hard to get a picture where they are both looking for still. Busy kids!

a new little face...

Untitled
Last Friday we got a call from the county about a 15 month old girl coming from Buffalo. Her mom is young, grew up in the system and was living in a group home. In short was arrested and baby in care! So once again we prayed over the phone and picked her up at 4:00.

Poor thing! This seems to be the pattern for us but this time we had our church talent show that same night. And Chris was the MC all night and in several talents because well he is talented. I got wrangled into doing one with our new presidency for Primary. (little miss primary pageant-pretty funny really) Anyway, so she got home at 4:30 we headed out the door with the 2 fats at 5:30 and spent the night being entertained! It was wild.
We are surviving and adjusting I think! This week has been a little crazy but good. This time is very different with an older baby who came with a personality, attitude even and her own likes and dislikes. Baby K is doing much better and learning to share and be gentle but it is for sure an adjustment for all. And fun, fun! We are a crazy, wild bunch!
