things are moving along...

We were really excited this week to get in the mail all the paperwork from our lawyer for the adoption! It makes it REAL. This is going to happen and maybe in the next month or two. It sounds a little unusual but I guess we don't even care how it sounds any more-it is our reality but his name is "ordered" (as the document says!) to be know as:

We do have several reasons for wanting to change his name, it sounds like it is not that uncommon even for foster care. But he is a junior originally named after a man who is not his legal or biological father. Someone who has never been involved nor wanted to be involved in his life. And someone who is local and not a very good person so having a senior did not seem right! Besides his last name was changing so we thought why not his first since we would be his family!
We have been calling him Caleb since he was a year and half so he knows himself as Caleb. Not that we even have to justify it but it is interesting the responses we are getting as we make this announcement more official.
So no adoption date but we are one step closer!

funny baby

This morning the little man woke up talking about eating candy! Yesterday we went to pickup a few fresh things at wegman's (it is a great grocery store) and we had to walk by their big train. As we were watching it go and listening to the whistle; baby K realized that their were candy bins all around him. CANDY! he yelled...so funny. He insisted on picking some out; candy worms. So I weighed a few and he went to town. Like I have never seen him devour something before. I only let him have 2 because he is not much of a sugar eater but when we got home and were getting ready for bed he asked for them again! And then this morning! So funny that was on his mind first thing....

Lately he has been into super heroes! All kinds. I made him this little superhero mask and he wears it all over. Coloring, playing with other toys, outside.....so silly! But he will play out all these scenarios..."to the rescue" and "help me"

and lastly we are still not back to normal with the tub so here we are bathing our big boy in the kitchen sink! He loves turning the water on and off and still makes a really big mess, splashing.

the kid calls corn on the cob "popcorn" and he whines for it, he loves it so much!! I mean how funny is that.

We have been doing a lot of activities outside the house lately...like a lot! the zoo, the museum and any park we can think of because.....
this is what Chris has been up to at our house! Poor guy. sick, working and still every night "building" the house as the little man calls it.

and since the little man loves and I mean loves tools and building we cannot even be in the house when there is construction going on....it is cute but man has made for a crazy schedule. I think he is sick of me and to be honest I am getting a little tired of a month with an attachment that only speaks 2 year old!!

As we progress through the adoption process which has been a process but it is moving forward, we have been given more information and background on the family and the history. This week we had our homestudy, we already did one before he even came but there has to be another one for the adoption. Anyway, we were given a 3 inch stack of copied files from his medical history which has all the doctors handwritten and typed notes. And it made me happy to know more about our little man. Amazing right! That just the smallest details about his life make me so amazingly happy. He was born at 4:29 AM and was actually 2 weeks over due weighing in as 5 lbs 2 oz and 18 inches long. We had never know the truth about any of this but to see it written from the hospital makes it real.
There were 4 weeks of his life that we were never sure how he survived living with his birth mom and seeing some of the nurses home visits and SW notes about those weeks were really hard to read. Their concerns, observations and conversations with bio mom. It is just even more clear that he is our miracle baby and we are so so excited that our adoption and sealing are going to happen and maybe within the next 2 months!! And so extremely grateful that he is with us and that we have him in our lives.
