a chair

I drive chris crazy with projects and ideas for the house but some are cheap and easy. Plus it keeps me busy and i love a good project.



This chair is finally done! and we spent about $8 on it. we picked this chair off from a neighbors house, it did not have a bottom any more which is probably why it was being disguarded. after some paint and a seat cushion we have a side table chair for our bedroom. i used left over pieces from our quilt in a very random design. i like it but it is not perfect and some of the fabric pieces and the cushion bother me but for a few dollars we like it. and it gave me something to do with my hands. love that.

the kitchen

ah! this kitchen....after a month we finally have our kitchen done!!! And we love it. The big items and all the details. It turned out very different then we orginally planned because of some surprises but it is much improved....yeah!










we have a few favorite vintage pieces that fit perfectly into this space! I still need to make the seat cushions for the dinner room table but what a big difference. We love it.

this was so much work! we painted all the cabinets, the hardware, the light fixtures, replaced one and new bamboo shades, wallpaper (yeah!~chris gave in and he likes it). the hardest part was not having time to complete it so we were doing it after work or meetings at night. A few times 12:00 or 1:00 in the morning before our homestudy and before house guests for hill cumorah.




we learned a lot and will take a break before we start on the bathroom.

living....

we love our colorful living room.

after much debate...we decided on these pillows. here are a few pictures of the living room. chris really likes green.

the fireplace has been really fun this winter and reading books on the couch is the best! we are finally after 8 months settling into our house.

the red quilt hanging on the ladder was made by my grandma durrant for our wedding, our piano was given to us by the packer grandparents in logan, utah and we have several favorite pictures on the mantel and wall from Italy, Africa, Brazil, our early married years and favorite spots in NY-the city, Palmyra, Niagara on the lake and others.

Surprisingly, chris is very particular about the house, colors and decor. it is cute! I wanted to put up wallpaper but i have not won that discussion.......yet!

house projects..

we painted our bedroom a few weeks ago and finally feel like it is all coming together. we love the colors, the chandelier, our painted furniture, the huge window out back (not that the gray skies and dead grass is all that pretty) and have added a few fabulous antique finds here and there. we are missing a few things we really want but we will add them as we find them. i think it will be ongoing. it feels more like home.
